Portobello Road Street Sign, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (Public Domain Photograph)
Thursday, October 25th, 2007This is a photograph I took today (24th October 2007) of the Portobello Road street sign.
Might be useful for some of you visitors to London who forgot to take your camera on your day out, maybe?
This sign is at the bottom end of Portobello Road, near to Notting Hill Station, and just opposite the Sun in Splendour public house. (A good local British pub - I’ve had a pint in there).
Portobello Road is a world famous market to the west of London full of antique shops and (increasingly) souvenir shops.
Lots of good restaurants and bars too - check out the Mau Mau Bar at the top end of the street (furthest from Notting Hill) - I enjoyed a glass of wine there and some good jazz one night recently.
Another public domain piccy by Carbuncle - check the terms of use here.
I place this Carbuncle’s Blog photograph of the Portobello Road street sign, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London in the public domain, as far as I am able, and allow any use including commercial.
Portobello Road is in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea - why is it a Royal Borough? Because Queen Victoria was born in Kensington and Queen Victoria bestowed Royal Borough status to honour her birthplace.
So, anyone need a street sign photographed?
